High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is often called a silent killer, is the pressure of the blood in the arteries.High blood pressure is dangerous because it makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body and it contributes to hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis.

A normal blood pressure is less than 130/85.

High blood pressure is 140/90 or higher.

If your blood pressure is between 120/80 and 140/90, then you have prehypertension.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

  • Pain relievers

Other underlying causes may include:

Symptoms of High Blood Pressure

  • Tinnitus (a ringing or buzzing in the ears)
  • Visual disturbances

Home Remedy for High Blood Pressure

  1. Drink a glass of raw beetroot juice 2 times a day, for at least a week.
  2. Mix 1/2 onion juice and 1/2 honey. Take 2 tbls once a day for 1-2 weeks.
  3. Eat 1 Papaya on an empty stomach daily for a month. Do not eat anything after for about 2 hours.
  4. The juice of the stem of banana plant (1/2 cup) taken twice a day cures high blood pressure.
  5. Lemon is also regarded as a valuable food to control high blood pressure. It is a rich source of vitamin P which is found both in the juice and peel of the fruit. This vitamin is essential for preventing capillary fragility.
  6. Grapefruit is useful in preventing high blood pressure. The vitamin P content in the fruit is helpful in toning up the arteries.
  7. Powder 100 gm melon seeds and 100 gm poppy seeds (khus-khus). Mix and store in a clean container. Consume 1 tsp with water morning and evening.
  8. Take about 25-30 curry leaves and make a juice, using 1-cup water. You can even add on limejuice to it for making it tastier. Strain and drink it in the morning.
  9. A real effective home remedy for high blood pressure is to take 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp cumin powder and mix them well. Have this mixture at least two times in a day.
  10. Taking amla preserve every day in the morning is useful in hypertension and heat of the blood. It is a blood purifier.
